Skincare

When it comes to skincare, I’ve learned to figure out what works for your skin and not to follow a skincare routine that works for someone else. In high school i used multiple facial cleansers morning and night because all i wanted was clear skin after years of breakouts. After nothing working, i got the suggestion to simplify my routine and not to use so many products.

After giving up all these cleansers was around the time my mom and grandma introduced me to moisturizer and how important it is to moisturize your skin morning and night. They’ve taken care of their skin since their young adult years and have passed that care down to me. My first facial moisturizer was OLAY’s Complete Lotion Moisturizer. This moisturizer has been an essential in my daily routine, morning and night, because of its light feel on my skin, its SPF 15, and vitamins like B3, C, and E. Almost six years later i’m still using this twice a day on my skin.

What i’ve also used on and off, in mixture with my Olay, is Castor Oil. I’ll put my Olay on my fingertips and then use 3-4 drops of castor oil, mix them together, and apply to my face. As i said, i tend to use this in my skincare routine on and off during the year but i notice especially in the winter time, it helps with keeping my face feeling moisturized. i used to use it to heal up my acne scars but have just learned to love incorporating it in most days.

My newest obsession has been face serums and oils. I’ve added a step to my morning skincare routine by implementing Glossier’s Super Glow serum. This is a vitamin C + magnesium serum that i’ll gently rub into my skin prior to putting on my moisturizer. It soaks into my skin and doesn’t make my face feel sticky at all.

Those two products are my favorite skincare essentials for my face that have kept my skin in the best condition it’s ever been. My favorite body lotion lately is the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion. It’s fragrance free, which i love because i am trying to simplify the types of products i put on my skin daily.

Finally, i have to mention my favoriteeeeee part of my skincare routine – my gua sha 🙂 I ordered mine off of Amazon during the summer and only in recent months have been really committed to using it morning and night to help with puffiness in the morning and facial relaxation at night. I also use this tool down my neck and shoulders to help with any tension i feel. Just put your regular moisturizers or serums on your face and look up a video for using a Gua Sha for beginners. Your skin will feel so refreshed and happy.

When i take care of my skin i feel healthy, i feel awake, and i feel like i’m doing something good for myself and my well-being 🙂
